How to clean a vintage feather quilt?

I have a beautiful vintage feather quilt...it dates from around 1930 and is stunning but smells musty...it's not dirty as such but the thought of all those ancient feathers is a bit yukky...how can I clean it? I once put a feather quilt through the washing machine and all the feathers clumped toghether and it never dried....what can I do?
