Need help picking the best filter (freshwater)?

I have a 33 gallon tank. I was shopping around today at diffrent pet stores and at walmart, and I have come down to two diffrent brands that are affordable... anywho they are the marineland, and the tetra.. my question is which one is better, has anyone had any expereince with either of these...should I not get either, and spend more money online....any help would be nice..thanks
